Flights & Airfare

When you book your cruise or rail journey with me at River & Vine Travel, I don’t just drop flights into your inbox and hope they work. I walk through your entire itinerary with you, so every flight supports the vacation you’re dreaming about.
Maybe your cruise leaves Barcelona at 5 p.m., or your rail connection from London to Paris is early the next morning. I time your flights to match your embarkation and debarkation days, build in smart buffers, and choose connections that reduce airport stress and risky layovers.
As we plan, we talk about what matters most to you—preferred cabins, favorite airlines, and how you like to use your miles—then I map out routing options that fit your style.
I also coordinate your flights with rail, hotels, and private transfers, so you are not juggling separate reservations or wondering if everything will line up. You see one cohesive plan, with no loose ends.
Whether you need international flights to Europe, domestic hops across the U.S., or quick intra‑country legs during a longer itinerary, I book the pieces and you enjoy the journey.
How do I take advantage of this service?
When you are ready to stop juggling flight searches, just send me your cruise or rail dates, your departure city, your preferred times, and the cabin you like to fly in.
From there, I roll up my sleeves and analyze the flight schedules that best match what you shared, then I present you with clear choices—usually a “stress‑free” option, a “time saver,” and a “best value” so you stay in control.
Once you choose your flights and purchase your tickets through River and Vine Travel, I take over the monitoring and handle schedule changes behind the scenes, so you can look forward to vacation instead of watching your airline app.

When it makes sense for River & Vine Travel to book your flights
River & Vine Travel is the best fit for you when flights are more than just a simple roundtrip. If your cruise has specific embarkation and debarkation times, you want someone obsessing over those schedules so you never feel rushed getting to the pier or stranded after you disembark.
It also makes sense to hand flights to me when your plans get intricate—open jaws, complex routings, or those dreamy multi‑city Europe itineraries where you are hopping from Rome to Paris to Amsterdam and back home.
And if the thought of schedule changes, cancellations, or missed connections keeps you up at night, that is exactly when my support matters most. When airlines start playing musical chairs with your flights, you have someone in your corner watching for changes and helping you navigate irregular operations while you keep enjoying your trip.
When you might book direct
There are also times when you do not need me for flights—and that is okay. If you are booking a short, simple domestic hop that you feel completely comfortable managing on your own, it often makes sense to book those tickets directly with the airline.
You can think of River & Vine Travel as your partner for the trips where the air feels complicated, high stakes, or just outside your comfort zone. For the easy, everyday flights, you are welcome to handle those yourself and save me for the moments when having an advocate in your corner truly matters.
What River and Vine does behind the scenes
While you are dreaming about your cruise or rail journey, I am quietly watching the moving pieces behind the scenes. Airline schedules, fares, and availability can change several times a day, so I monitor your flights for schedule changes and look at rebooking options before problems land in your inbox.
I also help you think through the details most travelers are never taught to analyze—connection times that are realistic, which airports are easier to navigate, and where it is worth paying a little more to avoid a stressful dash across a terminal.
When it comes to cabin choices, I walk you through the differences between basic economy, main cabin, premium economy, and business class in plain language, so you understand what you are getting and where you can save without sacrificing the parts of the journey that matter most to you.
What experience does River & Vine Travel with airline ticket planning?
River and Vine Travel has been helping travelers like you plan efficient, fairly priced air itineraries since 1986, long before booking engines and apps were the norm.
Over the years, I have booked clients on flights all over the world—simple nonstop hops, intricate multi‑city journeys, and once‑in‑a‑lifetime trips that had to run like clockwork.
One of my favorite parts of this work is helping you get real value from your airline miles. I specialize in building itineraries that use miles wisely, so you are not wasting hard‑earned points on poor redemptions or frustrating routings.
When you book your airfare with River and Vine Travel, you are never left to figure things out alone. You have an experienced partner who knows the systems, speaks the airline language, and cares about making your journey as smooth as the destination is exciting.

Frequently Asked Airline Ticket Questions
Please reach us at Robert@RiverAndVineTravel.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
- Can River and Vine Travel book my flights as well as my river cruise?
- Yes. When you are planning a river cruise or land journey, I can also take care of your flights so everything works together as one itinerary.
- I use professional tools and years of experience to remove the stress from booking airfare and explain your options in simple, plain language.
- How early should I book flights for a European river cruise?
- Airlines typically publish flight schedules no more than about 331 days in advance. If you book your cruise or land package earlier than that, I will note your request and, as soon as flight schedules open, help you choose and ticket your flights at the appropriate time.
- Is there an extra fee for airline ticket planning?
- When you are purchasing regular, paid airline tickets, I am happy to handle the booking for you and there is no additional service fee from River and Vine Travel.
- Can you help me use airline miles or credit card points?
- Absolutely. Many travelers are unsure how to get the best value from their miles and points, and this is a specialty of mine. For award travel, River and Vine Travel charges a non‑refundable fee of $125.00 per person to research options, identify the lowest‑cost tickets, and design an itinerary that makes smart use of your miles or credit card points.
- What if I am afraid of “wasting” my miles or points?
- You are not alone—miles and credit card points can be confusing, and it is easy to use them in ways that do not actually save you much.
- Part of my role is to look at the cash prices, award prices, and your specific balances, and then guide you toward redemptions that feel genuinely smart, so you can step onto your flight knowing you made the most of what you have earned.
- What happens if my airline changes or cancels your flight?
- If your airline adjusts or cancels your flights, you are not left to navigate it alone. I monitor for schedule changes and help you sort through rebooking options so you can stay focused on enjoying your trip.
- What if I am nervous about tight connections?
- Many travelers tell me they worry about racing through airports or missing flights, especially when a river cruise or tour is waiting on the other end.
- When you work with River and Vine Travel, I build in realistic connection times based on the airports you are using and the way you like to travel, so you can walk to your next gate instead of sprinting
When you are ready to stop worrying about your flights and start picturing yourself on the river, send me your dates and your departure city, and tell me, “Robert, I need flight help.” I will take it from there so you can step onto your cruise or rail journey feeling prepared, not stressed.
